Simple Godly Living

Hello! Welcome to Treasures in Heaven Academy. A place that was prayerfully made with God’s guidance and lots of encouragement from my husband.  In 2023, I felt prompted to leave my full-time teaching job to spend more time with my children. I no longer believed in the educational system that I taught in. I was always different, never wanted to teach to the test but wanted to teach the students the content for learning and enjoyment of the subject. Of course, deep down I felt that way before, that’s why my husband and I homeschooled our children. However, as my school made yet even more changes to fight to remain open, I saw how they cared less about the students and more about their test scores. I no longer felt that the public school system was where I needed to be. In the beginning of that year, I started Becoming the Woman God Wants Me to Be: A 90-Day Guide to Living the Proverbs 31 Life. The first assignment was to write a personal vision statement. After much prayer this is what my statement was:

My personal vision statement is to use my ability to teach and to inspire, encourage and support others to live a peaceful, joyful, kind life the way God intended them to live their life biblically.

At the time, I knew I encouraged my students, but of course I couldn’t speak about God in a public-school setting. I had no idea how I would achieve this vision. Little did I know, as always, God had a plan. Over the next two years, God would show me many ways in which I can do this and how the skills I already had could be a blessing to someone else. You ever go through a difficult time and wonder what’s the purpose for such a time? I’m learning that all of our struggles are to teach us something, and to help others that are going through the same things. 

Over the years my experiences have led me to study God’s principles on marriage, health and motherhood. There are so many things I want to share with you, I don’t even know where to start. But I will say, throughout my journey, God has called me back to living a simpler authentic life. One away from the hustle and bustle of the world, one that puts him (God) and my family first. One that eliminates distractions. One that removes anxiety, renews my mind and renews my body. 

Join me in my journey as I continue to live a simpler authentic life. I have so much to teach, may this site be a blessing to you! Please be patient with me, this is all new to me, but I know God wants me to share.
