Hello ladies! to Treasures in Heaven Academy where we teach, inspire, encourage, and support women on their journey to living a peaceful, joyful, kind life the way God intended them to live their lives biblically. I'm your host, Samantha, and I'm excited to take this journey with you. Let's return to God's design.
00:31
Did you know that your brain is 2 % of your body weight, but it burns 20 % of your energy and oxygen intake?
00:44
Did you also know that when your brain cells don't get enough nourishment, they cannibalize each other? This means if you diet too much, it causes your brain to eat itself. Your brain is the most complex organ in your body. The world's most powerful computers can't compete with the human brain. The average brain generates 70,000 thoughts.
01:13
every single day. Seventy thousand thoughts. And yet, experts estimate that for most people, 80 % of those thoughts are negative. If I were to walk into your mind, what words or phrases would I see popping up? Are the words and phrases self-loathing or self-elevating? Are you putting yourself down?
01:43
or are you picking yourself up? There is one thing in this life you have control of and that's your thinking. No area of your life is untouched by your thoughts. Think about it. Your mind can't be left behind if you get tired of it. You can't take a break from it. Your mind is one of the most important driving forces that will determine your whole outlook on life.
02:13
We must learn to think the way God thinks. Think of thoughts that honor God's character. We have to get a list of God's character. God is holy, just, loving, kind, trustworthy, gracious. He's a shepherd, a provider. He's merciful. He's faithful. And He's unchanging. This list doesn't begin to include
02:43
all the things we can say about God's character.
02:48
James chapter 1 verses 6 through 7 says, let him acts in faith with no doubting for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord. There's always something that we could complain about.
03:14
there's always something that we could be grateful for also. If we think lies, then we will ultimately fail. But if we think about God's goodness and truth, we will get to the exact place that God wants us to be in life. It is up to us to determine which way we will go. Think of Philippians chapter four, verse eight, as a checklist on what we should think and
03:43
With God's help, we can control the things that we think. This is our checklist in which we should think. We should think what is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, good report, any virtue, and praiseworthy. So let's start first with whatever is true.
04:12
According to the Strong's Concordance, true means not hidden or unconcealed. If we think about it, the truth has to agree with reality and aligns with known facts. The truth has already been tested to be real. When we think of the truth, we know it's the opposite of a lie, which is false. We know whatever God says in the Bible is true.
04:42
and that truth must be meditated on. The biblical truth always remains constant and never changes. John chapter 14 verse 6 says, Jesus said, am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. We know that Jesus's lifestyle and mentality is the truth and an example for us to follow.
05:13
So here's a list of things that we know is true. We know I am loved based on 1 John 4.10. I am a child of God based on John chapter 1 verse 12. I am chosen by God, John 15.16.
05:41
I am inseparable from God. 1 Corinthians 6 17. am free from condemnation. Romans 8 1 to 2. am never left alone or forsaken. Hebrews 13 5. I am free from any condemnation. Romans 8 1. I am a new creation.
06:10
2 Corinthians 5, 17. God is our refuge and strength and a pleasant help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear even though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried in the midst of the sea, though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling.
06:39
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. These are just a few statements in Bible verses.
07:08
that demonstrate the truth. There are so many more. There are 66 books of the Bible that is filled with who God is, Jesus, and our identity.
07:22
Okay, so if we know that the Bible is filled with all this truth, how can we get the truth in us? How do we get to know the truth? Well, I'll give you three ways that we can start practicing it. We can read the truth, read the Bible daily. And I don't mean to read extensive long chapters. You can start at a chapter a day.
07:50
can start at a little section a day. uh
07:55
Rehearse the truth and then practice the truth. Put it into action. So if we're reading about love, demonstrate love in your daily lives. If you're reading about patience, demonstrate patience with people that need that. If you're reading about peace, when a situation is getting out of hand, make sure you are practicing your peace.
08:24
Remember one of your reflection assignments was to read about Jesus's encounter with Satan. Let's go back to that and look at a few things. There were three ways Satan tried to take down Jesus. The first way was suggesting the easy way out or the shortcut. The second way was appealing to fame and fortune. Third way was showing his
08:51
But how did Jesus fight Satan? He was influenced and guided by the Holy Spirit. And he knew the truth. We want the truth of God's Word so deeply embedded into our minds that whenever a lie comes flashing in, we can instantly recognize it and shut it down.
09:21
Okay, so Psalms chapter 119 verse 11. says, your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalms 119 has wonderful treasures of how God's word teaches, guides, and encourages.
09:47
So I encourage you to go through 119 and pick out all of the positive ways that his truth can impact our lives.
09:59
So I'm gonna give you some tips because we wanna learn and memorize the truth. I'm gonna give you some tips on how to memorize scripture. So the first way is to physically write the Bible verse down. You can write it on a Post-it, you can write it in your notebook, but physically write it down.
10:24
Put it around your house, put it someplace you could see it, put it on your phone case, put it in your wallet, put it in your car. That way that verse is there constantly. So you can constantly meditate on it throughout the day. You're constantly rehearsing it throughout the day. Focus on one scripture at a time, maybe one to two if it's like connected as a group, but don't try to memorize a whole bunch of scriptures at a time.
10:54
Okay? Because it is about quality, not quantity. You want to know a scripture and know it well? Then knowing a thousand little pieces of scriptures. Practice them out loud repeatedly. So constantly say it out loud. If you're washing the dishes real quick, practice your Bible verse. You go to the bathroom, practice your Bible verse. You're eating lunch, practice your Bible verse.
11:24
You can set the scripture to a two or find a verse that has a song. Okay, those are really good. So let's work on our reflection. This week's reflection. I want you to complete the T chart in your guided notes or make a chart in your journal. One column will have the live.
11:51
and the other columns will have the truth. So we're going to start small right now. I want you to write down three lies that you believe. It could be about yourself, your children, your marriage, your job, or your family, or it could have a combination of those. And I want you to look up what the Bible has to say about that lie. So I'll give you an example. The lie is,
12:21
I can't do this job or assignment or task. And the truth is, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. That's from Philippians 4.13. All right, and now this week's challenge. This week, as we begin to bury God's truth in our hearts, remember to memorize and read both the Old and New Testament.
12:53
You can't understand the full redemption story if you don't know the history and the past struggles. I want you to choose one truth that resonates with you and commit the Bible verse to memory. So we talked about a lot of truths. ah We did a lot of truths throughout this episode. Anything that resonated with you, commit it to memory.
13:22
Write it down on a post-it, and again, leave it in a place where you can see it. Okay, let's pray. Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for your beautiful daughter that is listening to this podcast. I ask that you be with her this week as she is learning to be more in your word and learn more of your truth. Help her to be able to memorize your scripture.
13:52
Give her the right times and the right moments and the right scripture verses that she needs for her situation in this season of her life. I ask that you guide her, you protect her, and you watch over her. Help her to teach the truth to her friends and her family and her coworkers whenever fit. And we ask you to bless her throughout this week and help the truth stay with her. In your
14:22
precious and heavenly name we accented.
14:26
Alright ladies, remember that you are chosen and that you have a mind of Christ.
14:38
If this message has blessed you, please share it with someone. They deserve to know who they belong to also. See you next week, ladies. Until then, remember, whose you are.
