  • Mar 8
  • 6 min read

In this episode, we will discuss the importance of noble thoughts and how they shape our lives. We will see that our thoughts, rather than our circumstances, are what truly influence our well-being. Drawing from biblical teachings, we explore the concept of nobility, encouraging listeners to cultivate thoughts that reflect integrity, wisdom, and moral excellence. Practical tips are provided for replacing negative thoughts with noble ones, and listeners are challenged to focus on positive reflections about God, themselves, and others throughout the week.

Hello ladies!  Welcome to Treasures in Heaven Academy  where we teach, inspire, encourage, and support women  on  their journey to living a peaceful, joyful,  kind life the way God intended them to live their lives biblically.  I'm your host, Samantha,  and I'm excited  to take this journey with you.  Let's return to God's design.

00:32

What if the biggest thing  shaping your life right now isn't your circumstances, but your thought? Philippians 4.8 says, finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report.

01:00

If there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things. So last week we talked about thinking things that were true. This week  we're gonna talk about having noble thought. So in general, what does it mean  to be noble? According to the topical Bible encyclopedia,

01:29

Noble in the Bible  often refers to individuals of high social status, character, or moral excellence. In ancient Bible times,  nobility was often associated with those that were royal. But when we talk about nobility from a biblical perspective, it is more closely related

01:54

to virtues such as integrity,  wisdom,  moral excellence, and righteousness. The Greek word for noble means honorable,  respectable, decent, worthy, grave,  and dignified. The word noble is said to have been found four times in the New Testament. And each time it is mentioned,

02:22

it refers to someone's character. Whenever we are referred to by someone, they often associate us by our character. So they might say the shy one or the quiet one or the excited one. They associate how we treat them or how we make them feel with whatever our character is. So how does someone

02:51

think noble and honorable thought, or to show honorable character. When we think  noble thoughts, it's like the act of rewiring our internal compass to value what God values and to live in a way that reflects God's glory. And most of all, it means thinking the way Jesus did. Whatever we think must demonstrate the truth

03:20

and the beauty that God sees  and our hearts and our lives should reflect nobility. It should reflect love  and purity. God sets the standards for our thoughts. So often we find it easy for our thoughts and focus to land on things which have no heavenly value. Many times we get bogged down by thinking about things of this life.

03:51

And as a result of this, we lose heart. How can we pursue noble thoughts? How can we  not be bogged down by the thoughts that are making us more afraid or more anxious or more frantic?  When we think noble thoughts, we are thinking the way God would have us think. We are thinking about His word.

04:20

Proverbs 119 verse 97 says, oh how I love your law. I meditate on it all day long. Proverbs 4 verse 23 says, keep your heart with all diligence for out of it springs the issues of life. The NIV version for Proverbs 4 verse 23 says, above all else,

04:50

guard your heart for  everything you do flows from it. And the NLT translation says, guard your heart  above  all  else, for it determines the course of your life. The Greek word for heart means  inner man, mind, understanding, knowledge, thinking. So if we guard our inner man, m

05:20

our mind  or if we guard our understanding and regarding our knowledge, regarding our thinking, and we think noble thoughts that are focused on God and living for God. We need to think about God's word deeply  more often than once in a while. We need to marinate our minds with the word.

05:49

then the word will renew our minds, transform us into noble and honorable people. And when we are of honorable character, our thoughts are more noble and honorable. It's really a cycle. We have to change our focus to thinking more about eternal, heavenly things to transform us. Let's make it a daily habit.

06:16

to spend time to meditate on the Lord's word in our minds. Before I leave you,  let's go over some practical tips on how we can think  noble thought. The first thing is, instead of filling our minds with tragedies of the news, focus your mind on the good. The stories of people working for God and doing his will.

06:44

Second thing, share encouraging stories with others. The third tip is thinking the best about others. More like being empathetic. If someone gives you attitude instead of giving them attitude back, think  maybe they had a bad day. Maybe they're just tired. There's something more going on to them just giving you a bad attitude.

07:15

Avoid insulting someone in your mind. Be respectable. And so the fifth tip is choose to do and think what is right when no one else is watching. We are called to live out noble lives  every day. Our minds and character  must reflect that of Christ. So let's think about how we can reflect this week  on

07:44

thinking noble thoughts. I know it's easy to say, be careful what you think and not really know or understand which thoughts are having a negative impact on our life. So let's look at a few this week that will help us. Every time you notice a thought that is harsh, critical, bringing up your past, comparing you to another person or negative, okay.

08:13

So I want you to replace those thoughts  with something noble. And I'm going to give you three different categories now.  We can replace it with thoughts about God, thoughts about others, and thoughts about ourselves. So thoughts about God, I'm going to give you three. First, God is faithful  even when life feels uncertain. Second, I can trust God with my situation.

08:44

And third, God is working behind the scenes and his timing is perfect. At next category, thoughts about others. They might be having a hard day. Everyone deserves kindness.  I will choose patience.  I can respond gently. There is something good in this person  or I want to encourage them.

09:13

Next category, thoughts about myself.  I am growing  even if progress is slow. I can learn from this mistake. God created me with purpose.  I am stronger than I think. In the guided notes, there will be  more examples of noble thoughts for each of these categories.

09:40

There will also be two additional categories not mentioned that you can use to help you practice during this week. I also encourage you to memorize Philippians 4 verse 8. There is a song that I'm going to put in the show notes. It's a really great song. It's in the NIV translation. And I'll also add it to our Spotify playlist.

10:07

can use it to help you memorize this Bible verse. Okay, so we have our reflection activity and now let's do our challenge. This week's challenge, each day this week, force yourself to have noble thoughts.  One noble thought about God, one noble thought about yourself, and one noble thought

10:37

about  another person. Okay, so let's pray. Dear Heavenly Father, I want to thank you for your beautiful daughter that is listening to this podcast. You alone know what she is going through and what she's gone through this week. I ask that you comfort her heart. I pray that you renew her mind, help her to know that she is your child, she's your royal

11:06

princess and that she has a special place in your heart. I ask that you bless her mind to have noble thoughts. Help her to be more aware of her thoughts and what she thinks. Help her to start thinking more true thoughts  and more noble thoughts. We ask you that you bless her throughout the week and that you watch over her  in your precious and heavenly mighty name.  If this message has blessed you,

11:36

Please share it with someone.  They deserve to know who they belong to also. See  you next week, Until then,  remember who you are.
