Hey ladies, welcome to Treasures in Heaven Academy, where we teach, inspire, encourage, and support women on their journey to living a peaceful, joyful, kind life the way God intended them to live their lives biblically. I'm your host, Samantha, and I'm excited to take this journey with you. Let's return to God's design. Okay, so last week we learned about why it's so important to know our identity.

We had some really good scriptures that showed us the tactics of Satan, our adversary. In Mark 4, Jesus gave us a parable that not only told us about Satan's tactics, but also shows us the consequences of not firmly being planted in God's Word. Let's read it quickly. We're going to start from verse 15 and then go on to verse 19. The seed that fell on the footpath

represents those who are the message only to have Satan come at once and take it away. The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they do not have deep roots, they don't last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God's word. The seed that fell among the thorns

represents others who hear God's word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desires for other things, so no fruit is produced. This is a perfect segue into today's topic. Where do we find our identity? Most of us find it in the world. We have a lot of worries in this world.

We think of our identity as in being a wife, a mom, a career woman in our degree. We find our identity in the way we look, how people perceive us, how liked we are, and how much we are desired by people. So many other ways that I haven't listed. Ask yourself this question, where have I placed my identity? And if God were to take it away today,

How would that affect me? If you answered that you wouldn't be okay, don't be so hard on yourself because that's what most people would say anyway. But you have allowed those things to define your worth. Our worth, our identity can't come from those things. They have to come from God. The way we see ourselves and our worth can only come from God alone.

And again, the only way we know our true worth is through our Heavenly Father's eyes and the way He sees us. The truth shall set us free, and it sets us free in so many levels. So let's identify who we are. The first thing I'd like to start off with is the verse in 2 Corinthians, chapter 5, verse 17. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,

He is a new creation. All things have passed away. Behold, all the things have become new. Satan might try to tell you that your past defines you, that the things you have done or said are unforgivable, and that God won't accept you. But that's not true. Let's unpack this verse. The first part says, if anyone. That means that any one of us

can have this promise. Not one person is better than the other to receive this. The next part says, is in Christ. So if anyone is in Christ, what does that mean? According to the Strong's Concordance, the word in can also mean on, act, with, by, or among. So now if we look at it and replace it with what fits in this context,

You can say, so if anyone is with, by, or among Christ, then they are a new creation. He is a new creation. What does that mean? Well, what does it mean to be new? If we think about it, being a new creation is being and becoming a new person. It never said we are a perfect creation.

because there was only one perfect person that walked on this earth. But instead, we are new, we aren't the way that we used to be. And as Philippians 1,6 states, and I am certain that God who began the good work within you will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. So you see, we are a work in progress.

The old things have gone away and he is creating new things.

And the key word, all, shows us that every bit of us will become new. And it's just a process. It'll take time. So I want you to think about that and know that throughout this whole process, God is creating a new you. The things that you like, the things that you might not like, that He's changing it. Some things might stay and some things might be uncomfortable for you because He is changing that.

but he's making a new creation in you. And I want you to remember that Satan will try to tell you that you're not a new creation. He'll try to drag you down and make you think that your past defines you, but it doesn't. So remember that our identity doesn't come from our relationships. It doesn't come from how our husband treats us or how he doesn't treat us.

doesn't come from our children or how they act. It doesn't come from our job. It doesn't come from whether or not you've been divorced or whether or not you're a widow. It comes from God and God alone. So this week, I want us to reflect. And we'll have a chance at the end of the episode, I'll put on a song for us to reflect so you could start off this reflection. I want you to reread this verse.

Right? And I remember our verse was 2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 17. And I want you to think about how does knowing who you are as a new creation help you with your identity? How does it help you fight Satan? Are there any parts of your past that you are holding onto that is preventing you from completely setting aside all of your old things?

So I wouldn't be a teacher if I didn't leave you with some homework, but we're going to call it a challenge. So our challenge is let go of the old things that are preventing you from being a new creation. Is it an unhealthy eating habit? Is it the shows, the music or the books that we consume that isn't pleasing to God? Is it the people or the things we place our identity in?

I want you to put aside those things. I also want you to do some type of cleanup in your house. I want you to find any remnants of those things that's holding you back from bringing that new creation and remove it.

Remember that you are a royal princess because you are the daughter of a king. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for bringing your daughter to learn more about her identity. I ask that you reveal to her anything that is holding her back from fully becoming a new creation. Help her to hold on to this promise and to let

Go and to shut down any lies that Satan might try to throw at her. Help her to teach others about the new creation they are and that they can become. In your precious and holy name. Amen.
