Hey ladies, welcome to Treasures in Heaven Academy, where we teach, inspire, encourage, and support women on their journey to living a peaceful, joyful, kind life the way God intended them to live their lives biblically. I'm your host, Samantha, and I'm excited to take this journey with you. Let's return to God's design. This season, we're going to talk about our identity.
00:30
Why is this so important? Why would I start with this first? Well, in order to be who we are and who God called us to be, we have to know who we belong to. We have to know what our inheritance is. Let's think about the story Princess Diaries. She was a princess all along, but she didn't know her full potential. And she couldn't operate in her full potential.
00:59
But when she found out who she was, things began to change and they were different. That same analogy can be used for us ladies. If we don't know who our father is and who we are in him, then how could we be the woman that God wants us to become? Another reason why knowing our identity is so important is because we are in a war against Satan. He would like nothing more for us.
01:30
to not know our full potential. He wants to steal our identity from us. Without knowing our true identity, we become lost. We lose our hope and we also lose our purpose. This season, we will learn about what God says about us so that we could live a life aligned to God's values. So our thoughts could be aligned with His word. And most importantly, so that we could know
01:59
and understand how amazing our Heavenly Father is. Before I leave, I'd to give you some verses to meditate on throughout the week. Let's get an idea of how Satan is and how he attacks us. Okay, so the first verse is going to be from John 8, 44. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do.
02:29
He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. That one is really interesting, thinking about what Satan does. And if he is a liar,
02:57
what he can do, what potential he has to change our view of our identity. Okay, so the next verse is 1 Peter 5, 8. Be sober, be diligent, because your adversary, the devil, walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.
03:23
And the next one, it's kind of a longer verse, but all of it is so good. And I want you to look at it. You could go ahead and get your Bible and look at it with me. We're going to do Mark chapter four, verses one through 20. And this one I'm going to read in the NLT version. The other two were the NKJV. Once again, Jesus began teaching.
03:53
by the lakeshore. A very large crowd soon gathered around him, so he got into a boat. Then he sat in the boat while all the people remained on the shore. He taught them by telling many stories in the form of parables, such as this one. Listen, a farmer went out to plant some seed. As he scattered it across his field, some of the seeds fell on a footstep.
04:23
and the birds came and ate it. Other seed fell on the shallow soil with underlying rock. The seed sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow, but the plant soon wilted under the hot sun. And since it didn't have deep root, it died. Other seed fell among the thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants, so they produced no grain.
04:51
Still, other seeds fell on fertile soil and they sprouted, grew, and produced a crop that was 30, 60, and even 100 times as much as he had planted. Then he said, anyone with heirs to hair should listen and understand. Later, when Jesus was alone with the 12 disciples and with the others who were gathered around,
05:21
They asked him what the parables meant. He replied, you are permitted to understand the secret of the kingdom of God, but I use parables for everything I say to outsiders so that the scripture might be fulfilled. When they see what I do, they will learn nothing. When they hear what I say, they will not understand.
05:47
Otherwise they will turn to me and be forgiven. Then Jesus said to them, if you can't understand the meaning of this parable, how will you understand all the other parables? The farmer plants seed by taking God's word to others. The seed that fall on the footpath represent those who hear the message only to have Satan come at once and take it away.
06:16
The seed on the rocky soil represent those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don't have deep roots, they don't last long.
06:32
They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God's word. They see the seed that fell among the thorns represents others who hear God's word, but all too quickly, the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth and the desires for other things. So no fruit is produced.
07:01
And the seed that fell on God's on good soil, represents those who hear and accept God's word and produce the harvest 30, 60, or even 100 times as much as had been planted. So there are so many things in this passage, one that tells us about Satan and then also leads into who we are as people and our identity.
07:30
and what can affect our identity. So I want you to go back to that passage too this week and reread it again. See what God tells you about your identity. Another passage that I want you to look at is Luke 4 verses 1 to 13. We want to look at Satan in action. So you might know this story already, but pray first.
08:00
and asks God to reveal to you whatever He wants you to know about the ways you're falling into Satan's trap, right? So a lot of these passages, these last two passages are longer, but we're meditating on it throughout the week. For each of these Bible verses, I highly recommend reading the full chapter at the very least, the full section, so that you can understand the context of the story.
08:29
Reflect on what God reveals. Write it down. Write out a prayer to God as well. So I want to leave you with a challenge. This week, I want you to be intentional with your thought. Whenever you have a negative thought, I want you to stop. Don't go down that pathway. Don't follow the thought. Don't even waste a second on it. I want you to listen to music.
08:58
Go outside if you can, stand up, or start moving around. Because those negative thoughts aren't true, and as we learn about our father, we will know how to combat those lies. Remember that you are a royal princess because you are the daughter of a king.
09:26
Okay, let's pray. Precious and heavenly Father, I want to thank you for your daughter that is listening. I ask that you be with her throughout the week and that you send your Holy Spirit to help her and help her understand her identity. Help her to identify when Satan is trying to attack her identity. Guide her throughout the week and help her to feel your presence as she navigates her day-to-day life in your precious name.
09:56
If this message has blessed you, please share with someone. They deserve to know who they belong to also. See you next week, Until then, remember who's you are.
